October 26, 2001 journalist, Steve Thorpe wrote an article that ran in the Rapid City Journal on the local youth, and their tremendous talent. This is what he had to say about Lang's music and his CD:
"At that show, I picked up a copy of Lang Termes' first CD "Wild Eyed Highway." Showcasing some original songs along with six covers by Ledbelly, Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, this album is a must for anyone who thinks they have a definitive folk collection.
Lang's musical interpretation of the old songs and his originals are unique. He favors rhythmic lyrics and repetition of images, and his musical bent is summed up in the final song, Ledbelly's "Looky Looky Yonder/Black Betty."
Excellent listening. Catch Lang at an open mic or performance."
In a later article Thorpe wrote again about Lang's talent, This is what he said:
"Recently, at the acoustic open mics, Lang Termes has been delivering some fascinating original versions of traditional folk tunes. If you haven't heard his cover of Ledbelly's "In The Pines", get yourself out to an open mike and pray he shows up. This young man has amazing talent that I hope he continues to develop because I want to watch him grow."
"Lang Termes knows his way around a guitar, a lyric and a melodic hook. His facility and depth of songwriting belie his young years. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the kid's good."

"I once wrote a song for Lang, years ago, when he was a little toddler.
Back then it was impossible to know how he would turn out.
Would he be an athlete, like some in his family, a great artist like his mom and dad? Who knew? All you could tell back then was that he had a strong will and a desire to have things turn out the way he wanted them to be. So I was pretty surprised to hear his songs. He has his own style, something like a mixed up version of Bob Dylan (in the old days when he actually hit the notes), a little bit of Axel Rose, Dave Matthew's and Lenny Kravitz and maybe, just maybe a little touch of me. But mostly, it's a whole lot of Lang Termes. ...but is it any good?
Well, let's just say that I hope he returns the favor and writes a song for me sometime.
